Your Fee includes Fri-Sun attendance, snack Friday night, 3 meals + snack on Saturday,
breakfast Sunday morning, lodging at Daphne High School, audition packet and material,
instruction, and t-shirt.
Camp check-in begins at 6:00 PM on Friday. Full schedule will be posted prior to camp. All skill levels, from middle school to college are welcome. No prior
corps or marching band experience is necessary.
Our corps administration and staff will follow strict guidelines for the prevention and mitigation
of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. COVID vaccinations (Pfizer, Moderna, J&J)
are recommended for all attendees. Please email us if you have questions about possible exemptions.
Social distancing in rehearsals will be required and monitored. All sanitation protocols will be in effect at our camps.
Our medical staff will monitor local and regional infection trends and provide guidance to our
instructional staff. Be aware that viral transmission trends in the area could affect the scope of our
rehearsals and limit availability.

I CAN'T MAKE THE IN-PERSON CAMPS. CAN I SUBMIT A VIDEO AUDITION?
YES! We offer video auditions and can make arrangements for you to be at future camp. Just email firstname.lastname@example.org for details. At this time, we have openings in all sections.
WHAT IS THE FEE FOR 2022 SOUTHWIND?
The fee for your first season of Southwind is $3500. This one fee covers the entire 2022 Southwind program including all winter/spring weekend rehearsal camps, move-ins, tour, food at camps/move-ins/tour, uniform/costume, equipment (brass, percussion, guard equipment), instruction, and housing. The fee schedule for 2022 is:
WHAT ADDITIONAL MONEY WILL I NEED FOR THE SEASON?
You will need additional money for laundry, resupply trips to retail stores for personal items, any souvenirs, and a corps jacket (if desired). Brass players are asked to purchase a custom-fitted mouthpiece, which they will keep after the season.
WHERE WILL SOUTHWIND CAMPS BE HELD?
The majority of camps are held at Daphne High School, 9300 Champions Way, Daphne, AL 36526
WHAT IF I CANNOT MAKE ALL THE REHEARSAL CAMPS?
We ask that you attend all rehearsal camps. However we realize that there are graduations, proms, band functions/trips, indoor events and others where our members must attend. With proper communication with our staff, we can arrange for absences.
WHAT ARE THE AGE LIMITS TO JOIN SOUTHWIND?
The age range for Southwind membership is 14-21. Per Drum Corps International rules, you must be 21 years old on or before June 1 of the year you march to be eligible.
WILL I MISS MY HIGH SCHOOL BAND CAMP BY JOINING SOUTHWIND?
YES! You will be with Southwind from June 23 to August 14. That means if you join Southwind, you will miss your summer band camp and must clear SW membership with your high school band director. Some directors do not let their members join drum corps and some encourage participation with us. For all other non-summer bad events, we will allow you to miss SW rehearsals with prior notice.
DO I HAVE TO LIVE IN ALABAMA TO JOIN SOUTHWIND?
NO! Our members come from all across the country. In 2019, we had members from 14 different states. If you can get to camps, you can be a member of Southwind. We can pick you up from local airports and drive you to camps. Just email us to ask and plan your ride.
